In so-called mass casualty incidents such as bus or railway accidents, serious fires or terroristic attacks the relief units are confronted with special logistic challenges. The injured have to be spread over all hospitals within reach according to the available capacities and the seriousness of the patients’ injuries. After the patients have been triaged by an emergency physician or a special instructed paramedic they are transported to the appropriate hospitals. In this diploma thesis the weak points in the work flow are analysed and a prototypical system that supports paramedics in performing the triage process is developed. The relief units are equipped with mobile devices in order to guarantee a prompt acquisition of the required information. The coordination of the further treatment can be facilitated when using this acquired information.
